A Euro-4 version, which embodies all complexities and potentialities of an innovative motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ducati Multistrada 1200 MY2015 specifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>1200 (1198.4cc, 73.13 cu in) L-twin engine, 8v (4 valves per cylinder)<\/li>\n<li>Indirect electronic injection<\/li>\n<li>Manual 6-speed gearbox<\/li>\n<li>160CV @ 9500 RPM (160PS, 117.7 kW, 158Bhp)<\/li>\n<li>136Nm @ 7500 RPM (100.23 lb\/ft, 13.9 kgm)<\/li>\n<li>Dual Spark (two spark plugs per cylinder, one in the top centre and one on the outside of the cylinder)<\/li>\n<li>Liquid cooling system<\/li>\n<li>Elliptical throttle bodies provided with Ride-by-Wire system (4 Riding Modes)<\/li>\n<li>Euro 4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>12.5:1 compression<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Multistrada versions available are: <strong>1200<\/strong>, <strong>1200 S<\/strong>, <strong>1200 S D|Air<\/strong>, <strong>1200 Pikes Peak<\/strong> and <strong>1200 Enduro<\/strong>, the latest from <strong>Borgo Panigale<\/strong>. They are all equipped with the <strong>testastretta DVT <\/strong>engine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The<strong> 1200 Testastretta DVT <\/strong>engine<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devel-www.alientech-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/testastretta_dvt.jpg\" alt=\"testastretta dvt\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Includes two innovations: the <strong>DVT<\/strong> and the <strong>Dual Spark<\/strong> system. The injection system is traditional and also provides that fuel injection is first from every cylinder. It will not be as precise as a GDI system, but the presence of two spark plugs per cylinder (<strong>Dual Spark<\/strong>) enables to obtain two \u201cspark sources\u201d which can make the Air\/Gasoline mixture combustion quicker and complete. The <strong>DVT<\/strong> system allows controlling variable intake. This is the first time that Ducati uses a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">variable dual timing system<\/span>, at least on engines available on the market. In reality, i<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">t is the very first time that variable electronic timing is used on a road bike<\/span>. And who better than Bosch can control such a complex system?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the reason why the control unit featured by the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 is a <strong>Bosch<\/strong> <strong>ME17.9.21<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Bosch ME17.9.21 control unit:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is very small, but in spite of this, protections are very high. In addition to the micro <strong>Infineon TriCore<\/strong> &#8211; which for the moment does not allow serial programming, the original file contains <strong><em>Torque Monitoring<\/em><\/strong> maps that we have included in our drivers. So, disconnect the engine control unit from cabling and observe the instructions shown by the K-Suite, Plug-in \u201c756\u201d software.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/devel-www.alientech-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/ecu_position_nologo.jpg\" alt=\"ecu position nologo\" width=\"800\" height=\"599\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now, let\u2019s discover the new features of Ducati Multistrada 1200, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">especially the features of the new ECM Titanium drivers.<\/span> Let\u2019s start with the DVT variable timing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DVT Desmodromic Variable Timing<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is a dual variable <strong>continuous<\/strong> timing system that can manage intake and discharge valve overlapping. It is not a discrete \u201cstep\u201d variation consisting of fixed phase values: ECU continuously adjusts the timing of every cylinder. The Ducati Multistrada 1200 <strong>testastretta DVT<\/strong> engine comes with 8 valves: 4 per single cylinder. So, two intake valves plus two discharge valves for the front cylinder, and as many valves for the rear cylinder: 8 valves in total.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In practice, the innovative DVT system controls the advance or delay in opening the valves, working on the corresponding cam shafts, so as to overlap and \u201ccross\u201d, on the valve opening graph, the period of time during which both valves are opened. Hence the name \u201ctiming\u201d. But why do they use this system on a motorbike? Variable timing and \u201ccrossings\u201d between valve opening phases can be expressed with time only if engine rotations are constant!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devel-www.alientech-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/overlapping.jpg\" alt=\"overlapping\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As often happens with drivers of Bosch files belonging to gasoline engines, axes defining \u201c<em>Intake<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Discharge<\/em>\u201d maps of variable timing are <strong>engine revolutions<\/strong> [RPM] and <strong>engine air charge in percentage<\/strong> [Air%].<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Aspirazione_Ibrida_big.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/devel-www.alientech-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Aspirazione_Ibrida.JPG\" alt=\"Aspirazione Ibrida\" width=\"800\" height=\"182\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Riding Modes and Power Modes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For many years now, motorbikes have allowed selecting different riding modes. The new Multistrada 1200 enables to select even four <strong>Riding Modes<\/strong>: <strong>Urban<\/strong>, <strong>Touring<\/strong>, <strong>Sport<\/strong> and <strong>Enduro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/devel-www.alientech-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/riding_modes.png\" alt=\"riding modes\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Urban<\/strong> mode is characterized by a reduced power of only 100CV (73.5kW, 100PS and 99Bhp), softer acceleration (engine torque) and less rigid suspension setting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <strong>Touring<\/strong> mode, engine power and torque are at the maximum (160CV, 117.7kW, 160PS and 158Bhp and 136 Nm and 100.23Lb\/ft), in any case guaranteeing a more relaxed driving comfort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also in the <strong>Sport<\/strong> mode, performance is the same as Touring but the suspending management and limited activation of the different stability systems will not make you feel more relaxed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The last mode, the <strong>Enduro<\/strong>, enables to drive the Multistrada bike on every surface other than asphalt and in any weather condition. What do those high values represent? <\/em><s style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><\/s><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nothing gets past you, right? But <strong>nothing gets past me also<\/strong>. There are no maps called \u201c<em>torque limiters<\/em>\u201d in this driver but those who attended <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Alientech mapping courses<\/span> perfectly know that limits can be represented by map \u201c<em>Optimum Engine Torque<\/em>\u201d and how to correctly change it.<\/p>\n<p>First, check values referring to <strong>engine<\/strong> <strong>torque expressed in percentage<\/strong> [Trq%] shown on the right side of the map, when the <strong>engine air charge percentage<\/strong> [Air%<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\">] <\/span>is at the maximum. I am not sure it is the maximum obtainable!
