With the 2016 Euro6 version and a light face-lift of the radiator grille, Mahindra has designed the XUV 500 for the global market. In fact, it can manage every type of terrain thanks to the four-wheel drive (AWD), Multi-Link suspensions for rear drive and McPherson suspensions for front drive.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>First Generation Mahindra XUV 500 (MY2011)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This model was released in September 2011 with the Euro5 version of the 2.2L 140PS (103kW, 138bhp) m_Hawk engine. Its aspect is more captivating than the XUV 500, different from Scorpio and Goa models, making it possible to reach a quicker diffusion of this version in countries such as India and Italia but also Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Chile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Mahindra_2011.jpg\" alt=\"Mahindra 2011\" width=\"800\" height=\"528\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>2016 Mahindra XUV 500 Face-Lift (MY2016)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2016, the Indian Mahindra &amp; Mahindra manufacturer has needed to update the XUV 500 to the Euro 6 regulations using the same m_Hawk engine but with reduced emissions. Possible also thanks to the new Bosch electronics.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/xuv500-2016-bianco_mod.jpg\" alt=\"xuv500 2016 bianco mod\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Mahindra XUV 500 Characteristics<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>2.2L DOHC In-line 4-cylinders 16v (4 valves per cylinder) VGT m_Hawk 140<\/li>\n<li>Diesel Common Rail direct injection<\/li>\n<li>FWD or AWD (four-wheel drive with automatic control and start)<\/li>\n<li>Manual or automatic 6-speed gearbox<\/li>\n<li>140PS @3750 rpm (103kW, 138bhp)<\/li>\n<li>330Nm @1600 rpm (243 ft*lb)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<strong>2.2L m_Hawk Engine<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The development of the engine, mounted on many models traded by Mahindra, has been made in collaboration with the Austrian company AVL. The result is an optimum compromise between torque and power. The injection system is Diesel Common Rail direct injection.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/motore_mahindra.jpg\" alt=\"motore mahindra\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Direct Fuel Injection<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber of every cylinder, and the Common Rail system pressure goes from a minimum of 300 to a maximum of 1580 bar, according to the engine operating conditions. Taking into account pressures of the injection system, they are particularly lower than the current standard of about 1800 bars. Injectors mounted on m_Hawk 140 are not of piezo-electric type. Therefore, they do not support too high pressures. Remember this when you process this engine!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/iniezione_diretta_carburante_mahindra_big.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/iniezione_diretta_carburante_mahindra.jpg\" alt=\"iniezione diretta carburante mahindra\" width=\"800\" height=\"139\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Turbo VGT | Variable Geometry Turbo<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This system enables to maintain compression efficiency and high torque from 1600 to 2800 RPM, using a turbo compressor that is not too big in size. Closed vanes at low engine revolutions help maintain high torque levels (see the picture on the left). With high engine revolutions, vanes are opened because the quantity of exhaust gas is higher, forcing their direction towards the centre of the turbine (see the picture on the right). This allows reaching a higher torque even at medium-high rotational speeds. At present only this solution is available to complete Tuning on Mahindra XUV500.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Con K-TAG<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the CAR vehicle list: select Brand \u201cMahindra\u201d and Model \u201cXUV500\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Protocols pushbutton: select BOOTLOADER TRICORE and Control Unit \u201cBosch EDC17 MAHINDRA\u201d or Family \u201c495\u201d. The correct Plug-in is \u201c900\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Where to find the ECU XUV500<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lift the bonnet and you will find the control unit on the right side of the engine: next to the fuse box. You first need to remove the plastic cover of the engine to easily access it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Posizione_ECU.jpg\" alt=\"Posizione ECU\" width=\"800\" height=\"498\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Didn\u2019t you find it? No problem!<\/p>\n<p>Below there is a simplified design showing where the ECU is located inside the engine compartment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Ecu_details.jpg\" alt=\"Ecu details\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>ECM Titanium Drivers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Below there is an example of ECM Titanium software driver, including a list of all maps we have found for XUV 500 2.2L 16v CRD 140PS (103kW, 138bhp).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Lista_mappe_ENG.JPG\" alt=\"Lista mappe ENG\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The list is long if we consider how easy this engine is!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It includes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">all maps you can use to change the performance of this vehicle<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maps show the units of measurement typically used by Bosch, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>[Nm] for <b>engine torque <\/b>maps and axles.<\/li>\n<li>[% Trq] for <b>percentage engine torque <\/b>maps.<\/li>\n<li>[% Acc] for axles representing the <b>percentage position of the accelerator pedal<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>[mm3\/Stk] for <b>fuel quantity injected<\/b> maps and axles.<\/li>\n<li>[mg\/Stk] for <b>air quantity <\/b>maps and axles.<\/li>\n<li>[RPM] for axles and maps expressed in engine revolutions.<\/li>\n<li>[deg BTDC] for <b>injection phase <\/b>maps. The acronym BTDC means <b>B<\/b>efore <b>T<\/b>op <b>D<\/b>ead <b>C<\/b>entre.<\/li>\n<li>[Lambda] for <b>fuel venting limiters<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>[\u00b0C ECT] for axles representing <b>temperatures<\/b> expressed in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Celsius<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>[hPaTurbo] for turbo pressure maps expressed in hectopascals.<\/li>\n<li>[hPa APS] for axles representing the atmospheric pressure expressed in hectopascals.<\/li>\n<li>[Gear] for <b>gearbox speeds <\/b>axles.<\/li>\n<li>[bar] for <b>fuel pressure<\/b> maps and axles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let\u2019s analyse in detail the most important maps determining the original performance of 140PS 2.2L 16v XUV500CRD (103kW, 138bhp).<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Second Speed Maximum Torque<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the second and higher speeds, the torque is limited to 335 Nm. A value a little over the torque declared by the manufacturer: 330 Nm. You shall start from here to increase the performance of the m_Hawk engine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Coppia_seconda_marcia_TAB.JPG\" alt=\"Coppia seconda marcia TAB\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let\u2019s now compare the values of the map to the next limiter.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Speed Torque Limiter<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The map shows the maximum value of 340 Nm at 1500 engine revolutions [RPM] and for all speeds [Gear] from Neutral (0) to the sixth (6). The value is slightly above the value of the <b>Second Speed Maximum Torque<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Limitatore_coppia__velocit\u00e0_TAB.JPG\" alt=\"Limitatore coppia velocit\u00e0 TAB\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is certainly necessary to change both of them (in percentage or in absolute value), using the same maximum value to avoid the ECU Bosch identifies the presence of an error in the computation of the engine torque delivered.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Fuel Quantity Limiter<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Have you ever noticed that the engine does not accelerate even if torque maps have been changed? Maybe you forgot to correct maps referring to the limitation of fuel quantity injected.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Limitatore_quantita_carburante_TAB.JPG\" alt=\"Limitatore quantita carburante TAB\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Always remember that the engine generates higher torque if the quantity of Diesel injected is enough.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Injection Phase \u2013 Main Injection Basic Map<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is necessary to deeply understand the meaning and purpose of this map. It often happens that to reduce smoke venting you need to increase (therefore, anticipate) the injection phase to allow that fuel is first injected and then totally burnt, so reducing the smoke present in the exhaust pipe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can observe how proportional and homogeneous the 3D-structure of the injection map is. There are no sudden fluctuations (steps) which <span style=\"color: red;\">may<\/span> cause that noisy ticking of the engine at an idle speed or undesired smokes at high revolutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the Common Rail system pressure cannot be increased that much, as said before, these are the possible options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Map representing the <b>Injection Phase \u2013 Main Injection Basic Map.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Map representing the <b>Injection Time<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Injection Time<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The map determines opening in micro-seconds [us] of the injection, depending on the fuel pressure expressed in [bar] and on the quantity of fuel to inject per cycle, expressed in [mm3\/Stk]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alientech-tools.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagesnews\/Tempo_di_iniezione_3D.JPG\" alt=\"Tempo di iniezione 3D\" width=\"800\" height=\"486\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s all folks!
